The Forgotten Carols

We went and saw the forgotten carols last night performed by the Provo Theater company. It was excellent. It was our anniversary and we wanted to do something special. The play only had four actors/actresses in it but they did a wonderful job. Watching the play really reminded me of the true meaning of Christmas. The play made us laugh and it made us cry. If anyone gets the chance to see it I recommend it. Michael Mclean tours around different places with the real production. The story line is excellent. It is about a nurse who has forgetten what christmas is all about. She is assigned to take care of an elderly man who teaches her the true meaning of christmas by singing and telling her about the forgotten carols. The music is excellent and the actors are very entertaining. Before the play we went to Macaroni Grill. We enjoyed the main course however the highlights of the meal were the mushroom appetizers and the chocolate cake dessert. Also for our anniversary we are going up to logan this weekend.

Hey Family is me the Michiganary

Hey there everyone. This is a cool idea Richard. i have never heard of a blog before. Anyway, it is cool then I can read all about the family. Its good to hear that your tumor is getting smaller Mom. I have been praying for you. I bet its nice to be about over with the radiation pills for the week also. Things are going good here in lansing. It snowed a little bit last night. Around Thanksgiving time it snowed a lot for the first time. There was about 10 inches and we went and played in the turkey bowl. It was way fun but a little slippery and cold. We had a blast though. Office life is a lot different then being in the field. Its fun being with Pres. Gardner so much though. On Monday night I had to be at the Stake Center in Grand Rapids and there I was picked up by Elder Petterborg and headed down to lansing. It was quite a night. There were about 6 elders who spent the night there with us waiting for the following day to go to their new areas. THen on tuesday Elder Petterborg and I drove around all day from 7:00am to about 4:00pm picking up and dropping of elders. It was fun though. I also get to carry a cell phone around and call anyone I want in the mission. Elder Hurdsman is training this transfur. He's the one I trained in Traverse City for 4 and 1/2 months. On Wednesday we dropped off the Elders at the airport who had finished their mission. That was weird but actually really funny. We all were there and one of them decided that he was going to Get one last picture at the airport and so that took a bit as well as everyone just hanging around a little bit. THey eventually left and we left. Pres. Gardner called us up on the way home and told us to turn around because they missed their flight home and they were going to have to wait for another flight that was going to be coming in about 5 hours. So they came back to the mission home for a while. We dropped them off again and then the same day picked up the new missionaries. It was so funny. They were so freeked out about being on a mission. It made me remember how scared I was too. We came back to the mission home and had oriantation, dinner and a testimony meeting. The Following day we introduced the greenies to the trainers and had a long meeting teaching them about the daily ruitine on the mission. I got a picture of Elder Hurdsman, his boy and Me. So now I have posterity in the mission. The day ended by us dropping the missionaries off in midland and then coming back to the office and doing some office work. Hey Dave, Our Apartment here in lansing has a surfboard in it that some elders had found. It made me laugh. Its probably a 6/5 shortboard. I have to take some pics of me on it in the snow or something. Anywho, Things are going good. I get along with Elder Petterborg really good. He is from Arizona, Mesa area. The town is right outside Mesa but at the moment I cant think of what it is called. On monday we have a meeting with all the zone leaders. Its called Zone Leadership Council. So that is what we are planning mostly for at the moment. It's going to be fun. We get to play a game of basketball to start it off. By the way dad. Last monday while playing basketball in Grand Rapids I dunked it two handed. I guess all this walking has payed off. Just Kidding. We are studying about the book of mormon in the Preach My Gospel Book that the church recently put out to missionaries. Its so good. Way better then the missionary guide. Well thanks for putting this blogger thing together. And good job thinking of it Pamela. Your the Brains of this family. :-) I love everyone and thanks for the packages and all the goodies. I definately wont go hungry. President takes care of us pretty good. Keep being strong mom. I know you can do it. There is a scripture that I like I thought I'd share with you. Its Hebrews 12:1-2, "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin whice doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of god." The reason I thought of that one is because I like the analogy of the race. In life we are in a race to make it to the finish line. We like runners will always get a little tired but if we start out at a steady pace we can make it to the end and eventually win the race though it still takes a lot of effort on our part. Remember to live life one day at a time mom and enjoy this Christmas season. Of anything I know that Christmas will cheer you up when ever your down. I look forward to talking with everyone in 9 days. Love ya. Elder Brubaker 12/11/04 By the way, Pres. Gardner just called me and said he was mad at dad and mom because they have stopped calling him. He said he got to know you too quite well. But he said he looks forward to meeting mom because she is a hero. Thanks for everything and also the package mom. Bye.

Hey Richard!! (and anyone else)

Hi!

I was getting online to do a few things and thought hey, I can say hi to Richard! Cool. I picked up our family pictures today. I am sorta pleased with them. Jacob looks really cute in most, but the one I like best of Matt & I, Jacob is making a funny face. Oh well. They are still fun to have. We will bring some to you at Christmas, if we don't get our Christmas letters off in time. I need to go check out the "Blogg" site. I don't even know what I'm sending this to. Anyway, Richard- hope your fudge turned out great. I really think you should practice your fudge making skills and make some more at Christmas when we are all in Davis. :) Have a great Friday evening! Love ya!

Is this how it works?

I am glad about Janell’s good news.

I thought that I would try this out and see how it works. I agree that if we all started posting to this blog, it would be fun. I spend some time reading discussion boards about mystery shopping and Disneyland, but this would be much more fun, especially because I think of everybody a lot but don’t call very much.

We are doing well this week. The rain made it a bit muddy, but we can see strawberries starting to grow, so that is nice. Michael should be home from work soon, and then he’ll have to work on a paper due Saturday. My own paper isn’t due until the 18th, so I can put it off a little while longer.

The day before yesterday we took Aidan to the lab to have his blood drawn and he was so brave! He didn’t cry or whine or anything, and they took two big tubes. He just looked sort of confused about the whole thing, but didn’t seem to mind. He can be brave about painful and scary experiences, but if I tell him “No more cookies” then that is a reason to lie down on the floor and scream. Go figure. Right now he has just woken from a nap and is calling “Mom, mom, mom, mom!” So off I go.

Mom's Doctor Appointment Yippie!

I am really excited that mom's surgeon gave her good news in her appointment yesterday. The tumor is a lot smaller. That is some of the best news we have heard so far. Mom sure has been a trooper going through all of the radiation and kemo and it seems that things are paying off. I was a little nervous to call yesterday . So to get good news made me very excited. Well I think that this is the best Christmas present that any of us could hope for. While we are praying that the tumor will shrink more we also need to give prayers of thanksgiving.

Post to your first Blog

Well I hope that somebody posts something to the blog. It is really going to be a boring blog if I am the only one posting. Just kidding, what I write is exciting. But if you want to post to the blog just send an email. Use the email address I sent you. This could be fun. I personally would like to see Stephen post some stuff here from his mission so everyone can read it.

The Work and the Glory

Pamela and I went and saw the work and the glory today. It was excellent. If anyone else has the chance to go see it I highly recommend it. I didn't like the books that much. I just couldn't get into them. I read the first one and then part of the second one.. The movie is so much better. I never was bored and thought they developed the characters very well. The person who played Joseph Smith did a good job. I don't think I have like many of the Joseph Smith characters in other movies but this one was good. So you will have to go see it.

A little Bored and Brainstorming

Brubaker Family
It is 7:31 and Pamela is at the temple. I have been studying and just got a little bored so I thought hey I will leave another message on our new blog. I picked Pamela up from work and took her to the temple and met her boss there. She seemed like a nice little lady. She was very hyper but very kind. I was only there a few minutes and I got a couple of good hugs. Soon I will go to pick up Pamela and then we are going to the Gymn to work out. I will use the tredmill and the exercise bike. Well enough with all of this exciting stuff. Recently I have worked on some IntelliPro stuff. I actually made it through the whole process we are developing. That is the Tuesday process. We will fix a few things and I will add another form to the database. I am also hoping to make a program for Pamela's cousin in law, Dave. He wants a simple program to keep track of his patients and there symptoms ( he is a psychiatrist) . I also would like to make a program for Pamela's Uncle who is incharge of all of the computers for a school district in Vernal. He said if I make him a program the school would pay $100,000 for it. That program would be the most complicated. Its more of a web service (people would access it through a web interface). That one might take a little bit of time. So hopefully I can focus on IntelliPro's Program and also make the easy program for Dave. It is kind of exciting to be able to use some of my knowledge to make some money and help other people. I plan on making a lot of money in the future. One of the great things about programming is in the beginning you don't have to have a lot of money upfront. Start with a computer and a few software developement packages and walla. Well signing off for today

Creation

This is the beginning of the Brubaker Blog. This is my wife's (Pamela's) idea. She recently read a book about blogs and has talked to people at work who have family blogs. Well I thought it might be fun. I have a hard enough time keeping a journal. Maybe I will be better at keeping a blog.
